Politis Steak & Seafood Shipping and Returns Policy
Introduction
At Politis Steak & Seafood, we are dedicated to delivering high-quality meats and seafood directly to our customers. This Shipping and Returns Policy explains how we handle the shipping of perishable products to ensure they arrive in excellent condition, and outlines our policies on returns, replacements, and refunds. Our practices comply with guidance from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) for shipping perishable foods safely. By placing an order with us, you agree to the terms outlined in this policy.
Shipping Locations and Restrictions
We currently ship our products within the United States. At this time, we do not offer international shipping. We ship to residential and business addresses in all continental U.S. states. Unfortunately, we cannot ship to P.O. boxes or APO/FPO addresses because our products are perishable and require prompt delivery to a physical address.
If you are located in Alaska, Hawaii, or U.S. territories, please contact us to inquire about shipping options – however, due to transit time and distance, we may not be able to ship perishable items to these locations or may require special shipping arrangements.
Order Processing Time
Orders are typically processed within 1-2 business days. Our fulfillment team assembles your order in temperature-controlled conditions to maintain product quality. Orders received by a daily cutoff time (e.g., by 12:00 PM Eastern) on a business day will usually be processed the same day. Orders placed after the cutoff or on weekends/holidays will be processed the next business day. Please note that processing time is separate from shipping transit time.
We will notify you via email when your order has been shipped, including providing a tracking number.
Shipping Methods and Transit Time
Due to the perishable nature of our products, we use expedited shipping services to ensure your order arrives quickly and in optimal condition. Most orders are shipped via overnight or 1-2 day delivery services (for example, via FedEx or UPS) to minimize transit time. We strive to ensure that your package is in transit for no more than 2 days.
· Shipping Schedule: To avoid any transit delays over weekends, we generally ship orders Monday through Wednesday. Orders placed later in the week may be held to ship on the following Monday to prevent packages from sitting in transit over a weekend. In some cases, if overnight delivery is available and reliable for your location, we may ship on Thursday for Friday delivery. We typically avoid shipping on Fridays or the day before a holiday to ensure prompt delivery and freshness.
· Delivery Days: Deliveries typically occur Tuesday through Friday. We do not usually schedule deliveries for Sundays or major holidays. If there are any special considerations or requests regarding your delivery date, please contact us before placing your order, and we will do our best to accommodate.
Packaging and Food Safety
Politis Steak & Seafood takes food safety seriously. We follow USDA food safety guidelines to pack your orders in a way that maintains safe temperatures throughout transit. Our shipping containers are insulated and designed specifically for perishable goods. We include sufficient refrigerant (such as frozen gel packs or dry ice) to keep the contents cold or frozen during shipping. Each package is clearly labeled “Perishable” and “Keep Refrigerated” (or “Keep Frozen” as appropriate) to alert the carrier and the recipient of the temperature-sensitive nature of the contents.
All products are packed frozen (or refrigerated in some cases) and should arrive cold to the touch, at or below 40°F (4°C), which is the safe temperature threshold for perishable foods. Upon receiving your order, open the package immediately and place the items in your refrigerator or freezer as appropriate.
· Dry Ice Caution: Some shipments may contain dry ice. Dry ice will often have dissipated by the time of delivery, but if any remains, handle it with care (use gloves or a towel) and do not touch it directly with bare skin. Keep dry ice away from children and pets, and allow it to sublimate in a well-ventilated area.
If your order arrives and the gel packs are melted and warm, or the products are no longer cold, please do not consume the food. In such an event, contact us immediately (see the "Reporting Issues" section below). We will work with you to resolve the situation.
Receiving Your Delivery
It is your responsibility to ensure that the delivery address is correct and that someone is available to receive the package on the expected delivery day. Our shipments typically do not require a signature upon delivery (this helps avoid missed deliveries), so the package may be left at your door if no one is home. Please plan accordingly to retrieve and refrigerate your package soon after delivery. We recommend that you:
· Track your shipment using the tracking number provided so you know when to expect delivery.
· If you won’t be home, arrange for a neighbor or friend to collect the package, or have it delivered to a workplace or an address where someone can accept it.
· Upon delivery, bring the package indoors promptly and follow the storage instructions provided (refrigerate or freeze items immediately).
Politis is not responsible for spoilage or theft of shipments after they have been delivered to the address you provided. Once delivery is confirmed by the carrier, the responsibility for the package transfers to the customer. Please ensure the delivery location is secure (for example, if delivering to an apartment, make sure the package can be left in a safe location).
Shipping Fees
Shipping charges will be calculated and shown at checkout. We strive to keep our shipping fees reasonable while using premium expedited services and packaging to ensure quality. Occasionally, we may offer promotional free or discounted shipping on certain orders (for example, if you purchase above a certain amount or during special sales events). Any such promotions will be clearly indicated on our Site or during checkout. Please note that shipping fees are generally non-refundable once the order has shipped, except in cases of a shipping error on our part (such as shipping to the wrong address if the error was ours).
Delays and Unforeseen Issues
We work hard to ship each order on schedule, but occasionally delays can occur due to factors beyond our control (such as severe weather, carrier delays, or other logistical issues). If we become aware of a potential delay in shipping your order (for example, due to a weather issue that might affect the delivery route), we may delay shipment to the next appropriate day to ensure product quality. We will communicate any significant delays to you via the contact information on your order. Once your order is shipped, Politis is not liable for delivery delays caused by the carrier. If a carrier delay occurs, we will assist you in tracking the package and communicating with the carrier, but we cannot guarantee delivery times once the package is in transit. If a delay causes the package to be delivered late and the contents to spoil, please reach out to us – we handle such situations on a case-by-case basis and will work with you toward a fair resolution (which may include a partial or full refund or a reshipment of the order).
Order Changes & Cancellations
If you need to change or cancel an order, please contact us as soon as possible at the email or phone number provided below. We will do our best to accommodate requests for changes or cancellations before your order has been shipped. Once an order has been packed and handed over to the carrier, we may not be able to change or cancel it. In such cases, any refunds or resolutions would be handled in accordance with the policies outlined here (for example, if you no longer want an order that is already in transit, we typically cannot offer a refund unless there was a problem with the product quality or an error on our part).
Returns, Replacements, and Refunds
Due to health and safety regulations, and because our products are highly perishable, we do not accept returns of meat, seafood, or other perishable food items. Please do not attempt to ship food back to us, as we cannot restock or resell returned food products, and returning perishable items may pose food safety risks.
However, we stand by the quality of our products and want you to be satisfied with your purchase. If there is an issue with your order, we offer the following solutions:
· Damaged or Spoiled Products: If your package arrives damaged or the contents are spoiled/inedible upon arrival, please contact us within 24 hours of delivery. Provide your order number and detailed information about the issue. We will likely request photographs of the packaging and the affected items to verify the condition. Once confirmed, we will offer a suitable resolution, such as a replacement shipment of the product or a refund for the affected items.
· Incorrect or Missing Items: In the event you received the wrong item or an item was missing from your order, please notify us within 24 hours of delivery. We will review the issue and, if confirmed, send you the correct item as soon as possible or issue a refund/credit for the missing item.
· Quality Issues: If you are dissatisfied with the quality of a product (for example, if it does not meet expectations or is suspected to be unsafe to consume), contact us immediately. We may request details or evidence of the quality concern. Based on the situation, we will work with you to make it right, which could include a refund, credit, or replacement.

Exceptions and Final Sale Items
All perishable food sales are generally final sale, except in the cases explicitly mentioned above (damage, spoilage, wrong item). If we ever offer non-perishable items (such as merchandise or gift cards), those items may have their own return eligibility guidelines (for example, unused merchandise could potentially be returned within a certain timeframe). We will provide return instructions for such non-perishable items on a case-by-case basis or on the product page if applicable. Gift cards are not returnable or refundable (except as required by law).
Refund Processing
If a refund is approved for your order (whether full or partial), we will process it as soon as possible. The refund will be issued to the original payment method used for the purchase. Please note that it may take several business days for the refunded amount to appear on your bank or credit card statement, depending on the policies of your financial institution. In some cases, instead of a refund, we may issue a store credit or discount code that you can use on a future purchase.
